We are wronged by people daily, but to not forgive is unconscionable. The Universal King had died for all; for in eternity's view, we're pardonable. He has given absolute amnesty to everyone who has . . . more

Robert - just a simple man - B., Oct 31, 2009, 10:46AM EDTFor Great Aunt Carol:
ONE OF HIS OWN
© R C Burnham
Saint Augustine once told me
“Preach all the time, and if you must
you can use words –
even words that rhyme”.
But my aunt Carol, she needs no words
Her actions are enough
By the simple way she lives each day
She exemplifies God’s love.
It’s a humble thing to watch her live
She always lends a hand
Loving the Lord, then her neighbors first
She completes God’s command
No, she’s not a perfect saint
That role was Jesus’ alone
But when she bids the world goodnight
Ms. Finnegan remains one of His own.

Richard Hay, Oct 20, 2009, 7:55PM EDTHi Joseph -- the hay-ku was coined by a friend on gather and, after a few complaints (surprisingly few, actually) about the "non-traditional" nature of what is offered, I figured calling it hay-ku would be a kind of disclaimer. Although "intellectual haiku" (which is a real oxymoron from a Zen perspective) is an apt description, I perfer (maybe its the military background) "Smart bombs to target deeply embedded patterns of self-centered thought." LOL Thanks for your interest.
